Bio
As an Associate Superintendent with more than 33 years of education experience, Beverly Payne works with faculty and staff to create positive learning opportunities for students at Cherokee Central Schools. As is true of central office administrators in most small districts, Beverly has varied responsibilities, including curriculum and instruction, assessment, professional development, and school improvement. She loves walking into classrooms where teachers and students are so absorbed in what they are learning, they are hardly aware she is present. She models collaborative learning and networking through her work with the CREW (Collaborative Regional Educator Workshops) planning team and the Qualla Education Collaborative.
Beverly completed her undergraduate work in English education at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1988. She began teaching in the English department at Cherokee High School in 1990. Later, she attended Western Carolina University and completed a Master's in Education degree program. Beverly earned her Doctor of Education degree from the University of Nebraska in 2013.
Beverly enjoys reading, writing, gardening, fitness, and crafts.
