Welcome!
to the
 Cherokee Central School's
Human Resources Department

The Human Resources department is responsible for the recruitment and employment of professional, certified, and classified employees, job classification, records management, and employee relations.

Staffing Cherokee Central School with the best employees possible is our primary goal. Students of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians deserve the best and we have the privilege and responsibility to accomplish this mission by employing candidates that share our goals and to build a strong community of learners while embracing the unique culture.

Our campus hosts three schools: Cherokee Elementary School, Cherokee Middle School, and Cherokee High School.

Cherokee Central School is mandated by the guidelines of Every Student Succeeds Act and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. All certified and para-professional employees must meet the criteria of "highly qualified" in their area of assignment.
Employment Suitability Investigation Notice
All employment positions at Cherokee Central Schools that have regular contact and/or control over Indian children are considered “childcare” positions. A criminal records check and fingerprints will be conducted on all final candidates who will be recommended to the Board for school personnel positions, including independent contractors (i.e., individuals who perform contracted services) who are being considered for performing the duties of a school personnel position. Applicants will be required to provide any other information necessary to conduct the criminal records check. Any applicants, including independent contractors, who refuse to consent will not be considered for a school position.
