Security Mission Statement:

 

Our mission is to provide a safe, secure, and supportive environment for all students, staff, and visitors at Cherokee Central Schools. Through proactive security, collaboration, and compassionate service, we promote a culture of safety, respect, and accountability where learning can thrive.

 

Safety

The safety, security, and well-being of our students, staff, and visitors are top priorities at Cherokee Central Schools. We are committed to maintaining a safe and secure learning environment where every student can learn, grow, and succeed.

  • Emergency Notifications: Parents and guardians will receive timely notifications and updates regarding significant incidents affecting their child's school.
  • Emergency Response Protocols: During an emergency, students will remain in the care of school staff until law enforcement and school officials determine it is safe to begin a controlled reunification or dismissal process.
  • School Safety Plans: Cherokee Central Schools campus maintains comprehensive emergency response plans developed in coordination with local law enforcement, emergency management, fire and EMS agencies, and other community partners. Staff regularly train and practice emergency procedures to ensure preparedness.

Threats against Cherokee Central Schools are taken seriously and investigated immediately. The school system works closely with the Cherokee Indian Police Department, local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, as appropriate, to investigate all threats.

 

 

Surveillance Usage


Cherokee Central Schools authorized the use of video surveillance throughout Cherokee Central Schools’ campus. Our goals are to promote and foster a safe and secure teaching and learning environment for students and staff, to ensure public safety for community members who visit or use our school property, and to diminish the potential for personal and district loss or destruction of property. Network cameras and other security equipment are used to continue to improve campus safety.
