Cherokee Central School Job Openings
 
The following positions are open until filled unless otherwise indicated. Cherokee Central School is currently taking applications for employment for the following job opportunities :
 
  • Middle School Social Studies Teacher - North Carolina State Certification as a Middle Grade Social Studies Teacher or such alternative to the above qualifications as the Board may find acceptable. Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment. 
  • Talented and Gifted Teacher - North Carolina State Certification as an Academically Gifted Teacher or such alternative to the above qualifications as the Board may find acceptable. Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment. 
  • Special Education Teacher - North Carolina State Certification as a Special Education Teacher or such alternative to the above qualifications as the Board may find acceptable. Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment. 
  • Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher - North Carolina State Certification as a Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher or such alternative to the above qualifications as the Board may find acceptable. Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment. 
  • Integrated Classroom Teacher Assistant - Must meet the provisions of the Every Student Succeeds Act. Teacher assistants serving in Title 1 schools, in an instructional capacity, must have an Associate's Degree or two years (48 semester hours) of study at an institute of higher education.
  • Elementary Teacher - North Carolina State Certification as a Elementary Teacher or such alternative to the above qualifications as the Board may find acceptable. Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment. 
  • Special Education Teacher Assistant - Must meet the provisions of the Every Student Succeeds Act. Teacher assistants serving in Title 1 schools, in an instructional capacity, must have an Associate's Degree or two years (48 semester hours) of study at an institute of higher education.
  • Full Time Custodian (Multiple) - Evenings - Must have a high school diploma or GED. 
  • 6 Hour Food Service - Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • 4 Hour Food Service - Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Part Time Custodian - Evenings - Must have a high school diploma or GED. 
  • Part Time Food Service - Must have a high school diploma or GED.

**A NC teaching license is required for all Teaching positions.

Employment Suitability Investigation Notice
All employment positions at Cherokee Central Schools that have regular contact and/or control over Indian children are considered “childcare” positions. A criminal records check and fingerprints will be conducted on all final candidates who will be recommended to the Board for school personnel positions, including independent contractors (i.e., individuals who perform contracted services) who are being considered for performing the duties of a school personnel position. Applicants will be required to provide any other information necessary to conduct the criminal records check. Any applicants, including independent contractors, who refuse to consent will not be considered for a school position.
